Should you turn back the clock come Daylight Saving Time?

Earlier this year the Washington State Legislature passed a law to permanently stay on daylight saving time, but you’ll still need to set your clocks back come November 3. Washington will need to get the law approved at the federal level before moving to standard time permanently. Congress’ timeline to glance at the bill or approve it, is still yet to be determined. Our state isn’t alone on wanting to permanently adopt standard time, thirty-six other states have proposed a similar bill to convert year-round. Washington State lawmakers have contemplated an alternative plan if Congress doesn’t move fast enough and that could mean moving time zones.

Maine and Montana have already made the switch, and if Washington was to transition to Mountain Standard Time, the effect would be the same as being on Pacific Daylight Time year-round.

Although there is much back and forth on this topic, the outcome and likelihood of it being put in action in the near future is still unpredictable.
